    Vascular Access Devices, a sub-business unit of Medication Delivery Solutions, focuses on developing, manufacturing, and distributing high-quality medical devices used by clinicians throughout the worldwide healthcare industry to access a patient’s vasculature. Our devices assist in the delivery of chemotherapy, blood products, antibiotics, and nutrition.

    Summary of Position with General Responsibilities

    Responsible for concept generation, design, development and evaluation of new products, materials and technologies

    Essential Job Functions

    • Helps determine new product development efforts and priorities
    • Leads new product development projects
    • Participates in collection of design input data
    • Responsible for development efforts for new products supplied by outside contractor/ partner
    • Responsible for the design of new products and processes
    • Develops design verification and validation studies
    • Executes validation studies on equipment & processes for new products
    • Executes design controls
    • Responsible for project planning, budgeting, scheduling and tracking for new products
    • Develops and implements manufacturing procedures to provide production with easy to follow assembly instructions for new products.

    Basic Qualifications

    • Ability to determine what new products will meet customer’s unmet needs
    • Ability to generate and present engineering decisions/proposals
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Advanced engineering skills/specialized technical expertise:
      • Molding/Extrusion
      • Design/mechanics/FEA
      • Statistics/DOE
      • Biocompatibility/coatings/materials
      • Clinical trials and animal testing
    • Preferred Accomplishments related to technical expertise
      • Technical Publications/Certifications
      • Patent/industry awards
      • National Committee/Association Leadership
    • Ability to train, create and critique training
    • Advanced problem solving ability/root cause analysis
    • Ability to create, review and coordinate test protocols and reports
    • Excellent oral and written presentation skills
    • Ability to lead and produce results in a cross-functional team

    Education and/or Experience

    This position requires:

    • Bachelor’s degree in STEM and ten (10) years of engineering experience within a regulated industry, including at least two (2) years experience in medical device industry OR,
    • Master degree in STEM and eight (8) years of engineering experience within a regulated industry, including at least two (2) years experience in the medical device industry

    Preferred Qualifications Include:

    • Experience in medical device industry strongly preferred
    • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles through engineering experience including five (5) years of proven and effective project management skills

    The incumbent must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the duties and responsibilities.

    Physical Demands

    This position is in an office and laboratory environment and requires the incumbent to sit, stand and perform general office functions. The incumbent may also be required to lift up to twenty five pounds occasionally. The incumbent may be required to stand for extended periods of time. Bending, stooping and reaching are also frequently required
