  • Summary of Position with General Responsibilities

    Directs the movement of materials from procurement to production planning.  Provides leadership and supervision of warehouse team to ensure that quality, compliance, customer service and cost goals are effectively implemented and support business objectives. Oversees daily work functions and responsible for selection, development and recognition of the warehouse staff. Performs or supervises activities related to receipt, shipment, movement, manufacture, or control of raw materials, product, and waste.

    Essential Job Functions


    • Plans and executes procurement of materials from contract manufacturers and suppliers.
    • Maintains strong working relationships and communications with corporate procurement/quality departments, contract manufacturers and suppliers.
    • Generates material requirements plan in Expandable (ERP) and Kanban systems and identifies components needing to be purchased or delivered within planning horizon.
    • Issues purchase orders to suppliers, establishes appropriate material delivery requirements, and ensures proper maintenance of open purchase orders.
    • Supports purchasing activities for all site departments.
    • Reviews and assists in ongoing maintenance of Kanban inventory management process.
    • Proactively reports product and material availability issues.
    • Maintains, monitors, and revises essential planning systems to ensure accuracy of material planning and cost management systems.
    • Participates in production meetings and coordinates change order activities to published schedules.
    • Tracks and improves product unit cost from external sources.

    Warehouse Supervisor

    • Plans, communicates and coordinates daily work activities of the warehouse team and supports departments to ensure timely and efficient completion of planned and unplanned work activities.

    −      Prioritizes work based on customer needs.

    −      Ensures employees are cross-trained in major areas of warehouse (i.e. Receiving, transactional, processes, Kanban, sterilization)

    −      Responsible for the selection, training, development and recognition of existing and new staff.

    −      Develops a highly skilled and accountable staff through training, development, goal setting, counseling, and performance feedback.  Maintains appropriate records in these areas.

    • Identifies and acts upon health and safety issues in the Warehouse.
    • Identifies and recommends methods and procedures which will maintain or improve warehouse functions and customer service levels.
    • Investigates and works to resolve minor issues with delivery schedules and freight condition and damage issues.

    • Ensures transactional and physical inventory integrity.
    • Leads physical inventory and hits physical inventory goals
    • Prepares and maintains a variety of records, documents, and notebooks as required.
    • Documents equipment maintenance, spare parts, and raw materials inventories.
    • Integrates Quality Systems into all functions/activities.
    • Prepares error reports and reports them to Davol Customer Service.
    • Works with customer service to ensure errors are reduced
    • Troubleshoots systems issues with IT group.
    • Responsible for the selection, training, development and recognition of existing and new staff.
    • Identifies and implements process improvements that will improve quality and compliance and reduce waste.
    • Supports programs to ensure a healthy and safe working environment that complies with federal and state regulations.
    • Responsible for all receiving of goods and receiving inspection of doc to stock items.
    • Responsible for keeping a system to accurately document receiving activities
    • Responsible for warehouse organization, layout, etc.
    • Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.

    Education and/or Experience

    • Sc. in Business, Engineering or relevant field.
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a medical device manufacturing company; specific experience in a Materials Management role preferred.
    • Knowledge and application of Lean and Six-Sigma methodologies.
    • Working knowledge of ERP system; Expandable knowledge preferred.
    • High level of understanding of warehouse processes and transactions.
    • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
    • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to lead and develop direct reports.
    • Able to work in a fast-paced, high urgency environment while maintaining quality standards.


    Work Environment

    • Travel – Approximately 5-10% of time will be spent traveling.
    • Physical Demand – While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time. Occasionally the employee may be required to lift or move at least 25 pounds.
