    Summary of Position with General Responsibilities

    • The Market Development Manager will utilize clinical and business expertise to drive business in hospitals with physicians, clinical support staff, and administrators.
    • The individual will support and execute against the product commercialization plan by working closely with the field sales team including TMs, DMs, RMs, and National Account Managers.  The individual will also be a liaison with the marketing team to help develop and execute messaging in the field.
    • This individual will target high volume accounts in order to assess and drive Bard business opportunities within these accounts.  They will also be working in conjunction with the Regional Vice Presidents in the top 250+ managed accounts.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Maintain an expertise in assigned Bard products, competitive devices, and clinical data with a focus on evolving product technology and applications.
    • The individual will demonstrate best practices in the field in regards to physician sales presentations. 
    • Assists in the planning and execution of future product launches and the overall product strategy for the sales team.
    • Achieve quarterly and annual sales forecasts for their product category.
    • The individual will be responsible for development of Key Opinion Leaders.
    • Assist with NSM and SSM training and pre launch presentations.
    • Demonstrates understanding of Bard policies, procedures, and regulations in order to maintain a satisfactory record of compliance.
    • Maintains open, effective communication with all field and home based personnel, customers, and other Bard employees.
    • Demonstrates a strong ability to develop meaningful relationships with all pertinent customers including physicians, nurses, interventional technologists, and hospital administration.

    Supervisor/Management Responsibilities:

    • The individual will not have supervisor responsibilities with direct reports.

    Fiscal/Budgetary Responsibilities:

    • This individual will be responsible for understanding and practicing field expense management that adheres to Bard regulations.
    • This individual will process field expenses in a timely matter on a consistent basis.


    Customer and Key Contacts: 

    • Interventional physicians including Cardiologists, Vascular Surgeons, Interventional Radiologists.
    • Hospital administrators including lab managers, inventory supply coordinators, purchasing and finance directors.
    • Field based personnel including TM’s, DM’s and RM’s.
    • Bard Sales Administration: VP of Sales, VP of Marketing, Director of training.
    • Marketing department personal – product managers.
    • National Account Managers and Regional Vice Presidents.

    Basic Qualifications

    • Ability to deliver a strong sales and clinical message to high level physicians.
    • Able to help field based personal recognize hospital opportunities to grow their business.
    • Able to coach and develop TM’s sales targeting and messaging.
    • Ability to develop and prioritize business opportunities to help exceed sales forecasts for prodcuts.
    • Knowledge of BPV’s competition and their strategy in the marketplace.
    • Demonstrate at all times leadership to the internal and external customers that you will be interacting with.

    Education and/or Experience

    • B.A. or B.S. Degree
    • Minimum of 5 Years of Sales Experience in the Cath Lab, Special Procedures, and or the OR
    • Demonstrated successful performance in current role.
    • Advanced knowledge of peripheral vascular marketplace.

    Physical Demands

    • Frequent travel required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk for extensive periods of time. Sit and use hands to manipulate, handle or feel objects, tools, controls and office equipment.  The employee frequently is required to talk and hear.  The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel or crouch.  The employee may be required to lift and carry up to 35 pounds. 

    Work Environment

    • While performing the duties of the job, the employee will be in various clinical settings including cath labs and operating rooms.  Environmental exposures include eye protection, infectious disease and radiation exposure.
