    Summary of Position with General Responsibilities

    The Packaging Engineer II will be responsible for leading the successful development and implementation of new packaging designs, executing tests and ensuring appropriate industry and corporate standards are met.  The Packaging Engineer II will work with and develop strong relationships with all internal and external business partners to develop package designs for new products launches.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Lead the development and demonstrate strong and clear accountability/responsibility for the successful and timely completion and implementation of new packaging systems for new product introductions
    • Work closely with all cross functions in the business, especially core project teams, marketing, regulatory, quality and operations to support the business objectives
    • Determine, coordinate and execute physical package testing to ensure product and package integrity. Writes and performs test protocols for evaluations and validation
    • Ensure packaging projects are in compliance with regulatory and corporate guidelines. Maintain compliance and knowledge of systems and procedures with the FDA regulations regarding package development   
    • Contribute to the troubleshooting in the resolution of packaging related issues in manufacturing and the field
    • Works with labeling group to design packaging artwork layouts
    • Ability to travel to production sites to support product development

    Basic Qualifications

    • Experience in the medical device field preferred
    • Familiarity with ISO, ISTA and ASTM standards is required
    • Familiarity with packaging sterilization is an asset
    • Packaging Validation experience is required
    • It is required to have experience in material specifications for packaging


    Education and/or Experience

    • This role requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Packaging (or equivalent) is required
    • 3-5 years’ experience in product package development

    Physical Demands

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to manipulate, handle or feel objects, tools, controls and office equipment. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel or crouch.
