    Summary of Position with General Responsibilities

    The Sr. Sourcing Category Leader will take direction from Global Category Manager in terms of overall sourcing strategy. Responsibilities include identifying leverage opportunities and qualifying sources consistent with Bard’s overall Supplier Management program.  This role will also be responsible for leading sourcing exercises focused on leveraging spend for the three Mexican facilities as well as creating RFPs, analyzing quotations, and creating terms and conditions in conjunction with Bard Legal.  Additional areas of focus include the implementation of projects at the sites as well as supplier relationship management for suppliers associated with the respective sites.     This role will work independently or under little supervision to perform Strategic Sourcing for assigned product portfolio to minimize cost, mitigate risk, improve product quality and optimize assurance of supply.  This role will also provide support in regional category management on an as needed basis.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Responsible for collaborating with Global Category Managers and key business partners at the three Mexican facilities to set country-specific tactical direction for sourcing materials spend.
    • Provide regional sourcing leadership in support of the Global Category Management as necessary.
    • Optimize materials spend by leveraging spend across Mexican sites and create agreements that allow all sites to commit funds from single relationship.
    • Manage and facilitate all facets of the Sourcing activities for sites including vendor evaluations, site audits and continuous improvement process for all suppliers.
    • Locate, analyze, develop and maintain a consolidated supplier base to meet current and future needs of all purchased materials and services.
    • Lead country-specific negotiations for business terms and develop contracts for the supply of both standard and complex products and services with new and existing suppliers. Collaborate with Legal in regards to contractual terms.  
    • Lead quarterly business review process to drive continuous improvement in cost, delivery, and quality performance.
    • Uphold company fiduciary responsibilities; actively ensure and maintain adherence to company standards and values, business controls, ethics, policies and procedures, and professional standards.
    • Drive continuous improvement in all aspects of the procurement process by leveraging Lean Six Sigma tools.

    Basic Qualifications

    • Excellent analytical and communication skills.
    • Must have strong understanding of sourcing process, analytics, negotiations, costing exercises, make versus buy and market intelligence.
    • Ability to use PC's and associated software.
    • Working knowledge of sourcing systems such as Ariba, Oracle and ERP systems.

    Education and/or Experience

    BS/BA degree with 6-8+ years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
