    Summary of Position with General Responsibilities

    Responsible for collaborating with stakeholders to create sourcing and planning strategies for the procurement of materials, production and services required to meet all contractual specifications at assigned location. Responsible for production planning (Tempe and selected 3rd party suppliers), budgeting, inventory and purchase price variance.  Manage direct reports consisting of department planners, purchasing/buyers and analysts.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Responsible for purchasing, production planning and scheduling at the Tempe site and select 3rd party suppliers.
    • Responsible for developing and maintaining proper inventory levels of raw materials, and sub assemblies for the manufacturing plan for the sites.
    • Formulate annual cost reduction program by identifying and executing opportunities in purchase price variance, material use variance and process improvements.
    • Perform analysis and provide reporting to identify opportunities that can be leveraged with global category managers to optimize price, quality and assurance of supply. Partner with global procurement to execute key sourcing strategies or programs at the division and Tempe site.
    • Lead negotiations for site-specific projects and selected 3rd party suppliers. Execute supply agreements with component or raw material suppliers in support of Tempe site.
    • Partner with Quality and Sustaining engineering teams to resolve and correct quality deficiencies with suppliers. Facilitate meetings and discussions as required and drive issues to resolution. Participate as the voice of sourcing/materials management on weekly and monthly quality reviews as well as during site audits.
    • Responsible for purchasing activities for division indirect spend, including but not limited to: print services, janitorial, facilities maintenance, MRO, marketing materials, lab supplies, office supplies, consulting services, etc. Negotiate and execute service or material agreements as required.
    • Work with accounts payable shared-service center to resolve receipt/payments related challenges. Responsible for performance of division procurement card purchasing program.
    • Propose recommendations to streamline core business processes, minimizing complexity, training effort and data duplication. Create and maintain mappings of current and future business process flowcharts.
    • Track and report performance metrics for purchasing, planning, inventory and purchase price variance on a weekly and monthly basis.
    • Leverage Lean Concepts and Six Sigma tools to develop and effectively address any process issues.
    • Responsible for committing funds on behalf of the company in an ethical manner.
    • Responsible for ensuring personal and company compliance with all Federal, State, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures for Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance.

    • Supervisor/Management Responsibilities:

      • Employee Hire and Termination Authority - Employee hiring requires second level approval. Employee terminations require Human Resources concurrence and sign-off.
      • Resource Allocation Authority – All management levels have the authority to the allocation for direct reports and secondary reporting relation.
      • Responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all company guidelines and policies.


      Fiscal/Budgetary Responsibilities:

      • May have responsibilities which include the direction, training, coaching and performance for a team of procurement employees.


      Customer and Key Contacts:

      Collaborate with senior management located in Marketing, Sales, Operations, New Product Development, Finance, Accounting, Quality and R&D. Specific 3rd party supplier leadership to ensure consistent output and continuity of supply. Lead solution reviews and provide ongoing feedback on selected solution, implementation status and timeline

    Basic Qualifications

    • ERP experience required. JDE experience a plus.
    • Must possess leadership qualities as well as the ability to influence stakeholders.
    • Strong analytical, project management and consulting skills.
    • The ability to work effectively and implement solutions in a cross-functional, team environment.
    • Must demonstrate strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
    • Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word)
    • ERP/MRP APS systems experience is a plus.

    Education and/or Experience

    Bachelor’s degree in Business, Strategic Sourcing, Supply Chain, Logistics, or Operations required; Masters or MBA preferred

    A minimum of 5 years Sourcing, Materials Management and/or Operations, and a minimum of (2) two years people management are required.

    8-10+ years experience in Purchasing and material

    3+ years experience in project management

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit and use hands manipulate, handle or feel objects, tools, controls and office equipment.  The employee frequently is required to talk and hear.  The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel or crouch.  


    Work Environment

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving equipment in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.  The employee may be in a confined work space (i.e. cubicle, clean room or lab).  Candidate must be able to work in a team-oriented,    fast-paced environment.
