    The Glens Falls Operation is known as Bard’s Technology Center and is Bard’s largest domestic manufacturing facility employing approximately 700 in a three shift operation. The Glens Falls Operation manufactures over 20 different product lines serving all Bard Divisions

    Summary of Position with General Responsibilities

    Experienced engineering resource to improve the competitiveness of the organization in a performance based team environment. Simultaneously complete multiple projects by utilizing team leader and project management skills to lead multidisciplinary teams.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Support facility’s Quality System and tactical plans
    • Design, develop, qualify, and validate manufacturing processes and tooling/equipment
    • Drive continuous improvement, improved safety and cost reductions
    • Participate in cross functional project teams and execute individual project tasks
    • Perform mechanical/electrical testing and gauge R&R studies.
    • Statistically analyze data (eg: process capability, Design of Experiments)
    • Trouble-shoot processes, equipment and quality systems and develop/implement corrective and preventive actions.
    • Exercise independent judgment to perform job responsibilities, including taking the lead in managing projects.
    • Provide sound engineering judgment and decisions.
    • Knowledgeable on materials for GFO product designs in areas of responsibility
    • Qualify and validate new material and suppliers.
    • Effectively train manufacturing employees on specifications and processes.
    • Author CRs, protocols, technical reports and AFEs.
    • Technical interface with manufacturing teams.
    • Lead small cross functional project teams
    • Organize and effectively lead meetings.
    • Other related duties as assigned.

    Basic Qualifications

    • Experience with or exposure to process and quality improvement tools and projects.
    • Able to perform root cause analysis using quality tools (Fishbone diagram, six sigma, etc.).
    • Understanding of capital expenditures (AFEs).
    • Excellent Business and technical writing skills.
    • Ability to translate technical documents to manufacturing operators.
    • Ability to be flexible and deal with changing priorities.
    • Demonstrates strong communication skills across all levels of the organization, both internal and external.
    • Demonstrates leadership potential.
    • Take initiative in learning new technologies and materials.
    • Ability to solve problems and conflicts, work well with others and demonstrate team work.
    • Demonstrates a solid work ethic and positive demeanor/attitude
    • Able to travel as needed.

    Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge

    • Experience in a regulated environment.
    • Customer focus, innovative, results oriented.

    Education and/or Experience

    • B.S. Degree in engineering, scientific or technical discipline.
    • Minimum of three years engineering experience in a lean manufacturing environment.
    • Minimum of one year engineering experience working in automated manufacturing environment
    • Intermediate proficiency of 6-sigma/statistical analysis

    Physical Demands

    Occasionally requires light physical effort as in periods of prolonged standing, sitting at files or work tables or bending, stooping or reaching and/or occasional lifting of light items (i.e. up to 30 lbs). May require some exposure to chemicals used in manufacturing processes.

    Work Environment

    Some minor physical inconvenience or discomfort occasionally present in the work situation (moderate noise, disagreeable odors, etc.). OR occasional exposure to minor injury or other health hazard requiring some precaution
