    The Glens Falls Operation is known as Bard’s Technology Center and is Bard’s largest domestic manufacturing facility employing approximately 700 in a three shift operation. The Glens Falls Operation manufactures over 20 different product lines serving all Bard Divisions

    Summary of Position with General Responsibilities

    Computer-aided design (CAD) drafter will utilize computer-aided design systems to create technical drawings for product manufacturing. The Drafter will support the design department by updating drawings for CR approvals and validations.

    Essential Job Functions

    • CAD drawings
    • Work with multiple teams to create detailed 2D mechanical drawings that will be used for either the creation and assembly of machines and other mechanical equipment or to document product specifications.
    • Duties will be assigned by the sponsoring function and will relate to the project in which they are assigned

    Basic Qualifications

    • 0-2 years in industrial or mechanical drafting
    • Familiar with GD&T tolerance and ANSI drawing standards.
    • Strong communication skills to confidently explain information and converse with customers/clients
    • Proficient in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
    • Knowledge of PDM Professional (aka EPDM) a plus.
    • The incumbent must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the duties and responsibilities.

    • Basic Technical writing skills.
    • Basic interpersonal skills – active listening.
    • Basic Software application skills.
    • Basic problem solving skills.
    • Ability to collect and analyze data and derive conclusions.
    • Ability to make recommendations to reach a solution.
    • Basic oral and written presentation skills.
    • Ability to follow design controls.

    Education and/or Experience

    • Working towards a Bachelor degree in science or engineering.
    • Currently working on an AS or BS degree in engineering or design/drafting

    Physical Demands

    Occasionally requires light physical effort as in periods of prolonged standing, sitting at files or work tables or bending, stooping, or reaching and/or occasional lifting of light items (i.e. up to 30 lbs). May require some exposure to chemicals used in manufacturing processes.

    Work Environment

    Some minor physical inconvenience or discomfort occasionally present in the work environment (moderate noise, disagreeable odors, etc.). OR occasional exposure to minor injury or other health hazard requiring some precaution.
