    Bard has joined BD, together advancing the world of health.  BD Urology & Critical Care, formerly Bard Medical, is looking for an innovative leader to fill a Portfolio and Project Management position at our Covington, GA division headquarters.  

    Summary of Position with General Responsibilities

    As a senior member of the R&D team, this role will oversee all aspects of analysis and reporting on the product development portfolio within Urology & Critical Care platform. The role will contribute to the development of standards used for portfolio reporting and project management, and ensure the implementation of these standards within the product development community to meet the needs of senior management.

     

    The role will introduce common processes as a set of standards, allowing the management of multiple programs simultaneously in an efficient manner. This will entail the definition and institutionalization of standard approaches, templates and applications allowing delivery of projects with consistent results. Common methodologies and best practices will be developed and leveraged across and within business units, making it possible for project managers to work more seamlessly and effectively toward their objectives. Facilitate regular portfolio meetings in the organization for collection and dissemination of information relevant to operational activities.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Act as the primary business unit contact for product development portfolio information
    • Facilitate the creation and maintenance of high quality portfolio data for all projects within product development
    • Facilitate preparation of New Product Development (NPD) and Sustaining Engineering (SE) reviews and portfolio reporting, both within the division and upward to corporate
    • Oversee project management methodologies and tools used within the business unit
    • Own the process and data standards used to create portfolio analytics
    • Influence project teams to implement the standards for project & portfolio reporting
    • Oversee implementation of the portfolio management system (Portfolio and Resource Management Solution, PRMS) within the business unit.
    • Owner for PRMS within the BU. This includes management of all standards and guidelines, licensing and user access, and contributing to cross-BU efforts to ensure corporate standards are continually evolving to meet the needs of management

    Basic Qualifications

    • Experience with portfolio analytics and financial analysis
    • Experience with project management within a product development environment
    • 10+ years of management experience, with 5+ years of experience in a leadership type role within a highly matrixed environment
    • Proven, experienced manager adept at directing, motivating and facilitating skilled professionals in a dynamic, high pressure, constantly changing environment
    • 5+ years involvement in planning and execution of large-scale programs
    • 5+ years Program and/or Portfolio management experience
    • Leadership:
      • Proven ability to earn the trust of leaders within the organization, including senior leaders
      • Proven ability to mobilize, motivate and direct a matrix team towards a common vision and common set of objectives
      • Proven ability to resolve conflict (striving for win-win outcomes)
      • Proven ability to deliver tough messages with grace
      • Proven ability to act independently and to execute with limited information and ambiguity

    Education and/or Experience

    Bachelor's Degree in a Science discipline, or other related field.

    Physical Demands

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear.  The employee is frequently required to use hands to handle and feel.  The employee must be able to lift or move boxes of product/raw materials.  

    Work Environment

    No special work environment conditions other than exposure to chemicals and high heat in a laboratory setting.
