  • Summary of Position with General Responsibilities

    Leads and manages diverse individuals and teams to produce high quality products to meet customer requirements while reducing cost to enhance bottom line performance through continuous improvement utilizing lean methodologies.


    Essential Job Functions

    Employee Management:

    • Represent management, communicate Values, Quality & Safety policies, Strategic Initiatives, Plant Goals, Policies, & information updates
    • Lead and develop high performance teams to deliver key metrics such as Safety, Quality, Delivery, & Cost
    • Performance evaluation and management; includes annual performance reviews, performance improvement plans, disciplinary process, and employee engagement
    • Lead and ensure effective employee relations with partnership from Human Resources
    • Manage employee schedules, vacations, personal time, and any required overtime to meet business requirements
    • Participate in interviewing and hiring direct labor
    • Provide employee coaching and mentoring

    Production Management:

    • Ensure compliance to the quality system and proper training of subordinates and self to include: GMP, Product Construction, Quality, Safety, Process, Product Use, additional trainings as required
    • Actively participate in Material Review Board in assigned department to problem solve to root cause and drive corrective / preventive actions
    • Ensure a safe work environment for all employees; reinforce safety culture, support incident investigations & follow up, support ergonomic initiatives, and ensure stretching and job rotation is completed as required
    • Drive results in assigned department within the framework of manufacturing systems in order to meet key metrics within Safety, Quality, Delivery, & Cost.
    • Proactively lead continuous improvement efforts in assigned departments utilizing lean tools and methodologies
    • Actively manage day by the hour headcount, line balancing, and production output
    • Schedule and follow-up on repair and replacement of the department’s equipment as needed.
    • Support and execute any new product introductions or transfers
    • Participate in developing departmental budget, adherence to budget during the year, and accuracy of bill of materials and labor standards
    • Promote and maintain departmental housekeeping as required for a medical device manufacturing facility
    • Other duties as assigned

    Basic Qualifications

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

    • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business related field.
    • At least 3-5 years previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing operation, medical device experience strongly preferred.
    • Must have excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong computer skills; Word, Excel, ERP, Access database
    • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and continuous improvement activities.
