The Glens Falls Operation is known as Bard’s Technology Center and is Bard’s largest domestic manufacturing facility employing approximately 700 in a three shift operation. The Glens Falls Operation manufactures over 20 different product lines serving all Bard Divisions

Summary of Position with General Responsibilities


Primary focus of position is to conduct analytical work in a QC lab. Analytical tests include HPLC, dissolution analysis, and wet chemistry of active pharmaceutical ingredients, raw materials, coating formulations, and drug products. Scope of position includes transfer and validation of chromatographic methods and evaluation of product performance chromatographic techniques.  The candidate will perform data interpretation, technical report writing, equipment qualification/software validation, as well instrument and test method troubleshooting.  The candidate will also provide technical support to multidisciplinary project teams and support of internal customers in R&D, Quality, Operations, and Regulatory Affairs.  The candidate will also interact externally with Contract Testing Labs as required.



Essential Job Functions

  • Transfer and validate new methods for analysis of pharmaceuticals, and products / subcomponents within a cGMP lab environment.
  • Plan and execute studies to address product and process quality.
  • Manage long-term stability studies, including organization of sample testing and result trending.
  • Write technical reports intended for submission to the FDA and other agencies.
  • Support product failure analysis activities.
  • Transfer analytical procedures to other laboratories.
  • Perform analytical testing in support of ongoing R&D and process development projects.
  • Serve as project team member on multidisciplinary team.
  • Act a primary customer interface and technical expert. Work with minimal supervision.


Basic Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Chemistry (or equivalent) with 5-7 years of directly related experience in a pharmaceutical analytical laboratory
  • Experience with validating assays per FDA and ICH guidelines
  • Working knowledge of cGMP requirements/procedures
  • Significant hands-on experience & expertise in HPLC analysis and method development
  • Experience with in-vitro and in-vivo drug coated medical device tests highly desired
  • Strong communications skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to manage/prioritize high volumes of analysis requests
  • Consistent attention to detail
  • Aptitude for experimental design and methods development

Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge

Working knowledge of drug formulation, degradation mechanisms, and processing effects

Experience with other analytical techniques including LC-MS, GC-MS, dissolution, FTIR

Education and/or Experience

B.S. degree in Chemistry (or equivalent) with 5-7 years of directly related experience in a pharmaceutical analytical laboratory


Physical Demands

Occasionally requires light physical effort as in periods of prolonged standing, sitting at files or work tables or bending, stooping or reaching and/or occasional lifting of light items (i.e. up to 30 lbs). May require some exposure to chemicals used in manufacturing processes.

Work Environment

Some minor physical inconvenience or discomfort occasionally present in the work situation (moderate noise, disagreeable odors, etc.) Occasional exposure to potential for minor injury or other health hazard requiring some precaution.
