Vascular Access Devices, a sub-business unit of Medication Delivery Solutions, focuses on developing, manufacturing, and distributing high-quality medical devices used by clinicians throughout the worldwide healthcare industry to access a patient’s vasculature. Our devices assist in the delivery of chemotherapy, blood products, antibiotics, and nutrition.

Summary of Position with General Responsibilities

This position is responsible for providing accurate and timely financial information for use by management in key business decision-making. This position is also responsible for assisting in the general ledger consolidation and for preparing financial analysis for Controller, Sr. Accounting Manager and Finance Manager as required.

Essential Job Functions

The following duties and responsibilities are intended to be representative of the work performed by the incumbent(s) in this position and are not all-inclusive. The omission of a specific duty or responsibility will not preclude it from the position.

  • Shares in the preparation of the monthly financial closing for Bard Access Systems, including but not limited to, financial reporting and expense analysis.
  • Maintains the integrity of the General Ledger.
  • Shares in the preparation and testing of Sarbanes-Oxley documentation.
  • Participates in the development of the annual expense budgets.
  • Assists in year-end closing by sharing in the preparation of the annual report, 10-K and tax schedules.
  • Trains other analysts on processes and systems.
  • Cooperates with internal and external auditors in review and audit engagements.
  • Champion for Hyperion system (HFM/FDM).
  • Oversees various payments made to third parties (e.g. royalties, property taxes).
  • Prepares supporting documentation for POA’s and AFE’s.
  • Performs special financial analysis projects for the Controller, Sr. Accounting Manager and Finance Manager as needed.
  • Recording, compiling and presenting financial results in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Formulating and documenting effective financial policies and procedures.
  • Initiating improved techniques and procedures in General Accounting, Accounts Payable, and Budgeting.
  • Coordinating cross-functional department responsibilities in an organized manner.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of sound accounting skills and internal control procedures, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated human relation and communication skills, organization ability.


Preferred qualifications include:

  • One year of experience or knowledge of automated general ledger systems or equivalency.
  • MBA, CPA or CMA.


The incumbent must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the duties and responsibilities.

Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge

  • Experience in preparing financial analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills and organization ability.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of sound accounting skills and internal control procedures, particularly in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in the use of personal computers, particularly Microsoft Office.

Physical Demands

This position is in an office and laboratory environment and requires the incumbent to sit, stand and perform general office functions. The incumbent may also be required to lift up to twenty five pounds occasionally. The incumbent may be required to stand for extended periods of time. Bending, stooping and reaching are also frequently required.
