The Glens Falls Operation is known as Bard’s Technology Center and is Bard’s largest domestic manufacturing facility employing approximately 700 in a three shift operation. The Glens Falls Operation manufactures over 20 different product lines serving all Bard Divisions.

Summary of Position with General Responsibilities

Advanced engineering resource to improve the competitiveness of the organization in a performance based team environment. Proficient team leader and project manager, leading any complexity of projects to completion.  Participate in the development of the Glens Falls Quality and Management system and capable of fulfilling the next level of management.

Essential Job Functions

  • Successfully lead meetings and effectively follow-up on action steps.
  • Lead large, complex projects utilizing cross functional teams.
  • Initiates and leads multiple engineering projects in support of the facility’s tactical plan. Examples:
    • Design and/or technology transfers, vertical integrations, maintenance of business projects, continuous improvement projects.
    • Author technical reports.
    • Develop and perform validation studies.
    • Analyze process capability
    • Trouble-shoot processes, equipment and quality systems. Develop and implement corrective actions.
  • Design, develop, qualify, and validate manufacturing processes and tooling/equipment to drive continuous improvement and cost reductions.
  • Technical interface to divisional and external customers.
  • Leader of technical personnel.
  • Establishes engineering priorities based on business needs.
  • Coordinates with other functions in obtaining resources to ensure successful/on-time completion of projects.
  • Promotes and challenges new ideas and technologies to advance the business.
  • Promotes teamwork among engineers.
  •  Perform other related duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  1. 6-sigma certification – Lean/Continuous Improvement/Kaizen experience.
  2. Manufacturing engineering experience in medical device and/or pharmaceutical manufacturing, process development, and process validation.
  3. Experienced in design and/or technology transfers.
  4. Strong written, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  5. Experienced in leading cross functional teams.
  6. Strong project management skills.
  7. Political Savvy.
  8. Proven track record in managing multiple projects to conclusion with measurable results.
  9. Experienced with financial system/costing, including inputs that effect product costing.

Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge

  • Engineering experience in combination medical device manufacturing.
  • Interviewing and selection skills.

Education and/or Experience

  1. Minimum of B.S. year degree in engineering, scientific or technical discipline.
  2. Minimum of five years engineering experience in a FDA-regulated manufacturing environment.

Physical Demands

Occasionally requires light physical effort as in periods of prolonged standing, sitting at files or work tables or bending, stooping or reaching and/or occasional lifting of light items (i.e. up to 30 lbs). May require some exposure to chemicals used in manufacturing processes.

Work Environment

Some minor physical inconvenience or discomfort occasionally present in the work situation (moderate noise, disagreeable odors, etc.). OR occasional exposure to minor injury or other health hazard requiring some precaution.
