Vascular Access Devices, a sub-business unit of Medication Delivery Solutions, focuses on developing, manufacturing, and distributing high-quality medical devices used by clinicians throughout the worldwide healthcare industry to access a patient’s vasculature. Our devices assist in the delivery of chemotherapy, blood products, antibiotics, and nutrition. 

Summary of Position with General Responsibilities

This position is a direct contact for Bard Access Systems personnel concerning Document Control issues.  Incumbents in this position will be responsible for document change control activities, including but not limited to the processing of Change Requests, document filing, scanning documents, and enforcing requirements. This position involves customer service, special projects, and problem solving Document Control issues.

Essential Job Functions

The following duties and responsibilities are intended to be representative of the work performed by the incumbent(s) in this position and are not all-inclusive.  The omission of a specific duty or responsibility will not preclude it from the position.

  • Ensures that new document and revisions of documents meet Division Document Control requirements.
  • Manage hard copy and electronic copy documents and maintain version control.
  • Support MasterControl site administrator, as necessary.
  • Uses various programs including Word, Excel, Access, MasterControl, and others as necessary to complete daily work routines.
  • Provide support and/or functions as the primary internal contact for Bard Access Systems personnel in matters regarding documentation. Receives and answers internal customer service inquiries and resolves issues regarding location and status of customer's documents.
  • Files, archives, and retrieves documentation from archives by internal customer request for non-EDMS documentation.
  • Performs other activities as pertinent to the documentation area, including scanning, database maintenance, external standards maintenance and coordinating documentation changes with other Bard divisions as required.
  • May perform special projects, under general supervision.
  • Assigns through C.R. Bard part numbers and assigns document numbers.
  • Maintains and files Reports, Protocols, and product development outputs such as Failure Modes and Effects Analyses, Design History Files, and Project Records.
  • May perform Documentation Specialist tasks such as preparing reports and/or serving as a contact person for offsite manufacturing facilities.
  • May interface with internal and Notified Body auditors and FDA inspectors.

Basic Qualifications

  • A minimum of two (2) years of clerical experience or equivalency.
  • A high school or GED diploma.
  • Proficiency in current word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • A general understanding of database software operation and principles.
  • Demonstrated communication and human relation skills.


The incumbent must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the duties and responsibilities.

Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge

  • Problem solving and/or application of judgment in dealing with internal customers.
  • Ability to convert data into spreadsheet format, publish, and distribute.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good typing and accurate filing skills.
  • General computer skills; ability to learn and work with MasterControl EDMS, and various other computer programs.
  • Solid word processing, Windows, and database skills.
  • Good grammar and writing skills.
  • Attention to detail.

Physical Demands

This position is in an office and laboratory environment and requires the incumbent to sit, stand and perform general office functions. The incumbent may also be required to lift up to twenty five pounds occasionally. The incumbent may be required to stand for extended periods of time. Bending, stooping and reaching are also frequently required.
