The Glens Falls Operation is known as Bard’s Technology Center and is Bard’s largest domestic manufacturing facility employing approximately 700 in a three shift operation. The Glens Falls Operation manufactures over 20 different product lines serving all Bard Divisions

Summary of Position with General Responsibilities

Responsible for managing and directing the Calibration Lab within the Facilities Engineering organization. Advanced technical resource to improve the competitiveness of the organization by coordinating equipment system activities to expedite new product introductions, improved safety, and continuous improvement projects.

Essential Job Functions

  • Leads and manages all elements of the Calibration System. Examples include:
  • Oversees and facilitates scheduling and calibration for all Measuring, Inspection & Test Equipment currently in or entering the Calibration System in accordance with related GMP/QSR and ISO
  • Maintains Calibration Documentation/Records and Electronic Scheduling Systems.
  • Develops and performs equipment characterization studies from which Calibration, and QC test methods and specifications can be developed. Performs mechanical/electrical measuring and testing
  • Qualifies suppliers of calibration services and maintains documentation to demonstrate a level of quality to sustain confidence in the service provided. Conducts on-site audits.
  • Manages department budget with financial metrics and goals to ensure month to month accuracy (BVR), with responsibility for developing and implementing annual capital equipment replacement plan.
  • Utilizes leaderships skills to coordinate and provide technical support for multiple projects to achieve on-time results.
  • Maintains department metrics to ensure continuous improvement within the Calibration system. Participates in the facility’s Quality and Management Systems and represents results at Quarterly Management Review.
  • Evaluates team performance and provide team and individuals with effective and appropriate feedback.
  • Develops personnel for advancement to the next level within the organization.
  • Recommends Measurement, Inspection & Test Equipment for process controls to ensure product conformance to specification.
  • Performs process validation studies to support design transfer, improved safety and continuous improvement/cost reduction projects. Authors technical reports.
  • Develops and qualifies tooling and test fixtures for Measurement, Inspection & Test Equipment systems.
  • Trouble-shoots processes, equipment, and systems. Develops and implements corrective actions.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum two (2) years Supervisory experience preferably in lean manufacturing setting
  • Two (2) years proven understanding and experience of Quality Systems, GMP/QSR, and ISO Medical Device Manufacturing Regulations.

Education and/or Experience

Four year degree preferable in a scientific or engineering discipline

Physical Demands

Occasional exposure to noise,and/or chemicals. Occasional standing, walking, bending, stooping or reaching and/or occasional lifting of light items up to 50 lbs.

Some minor physical inconvenience or discomfort present in the work situation (moderate noisy, disagreeable odors, etc. OR occasional exposure to minor injury or other health hazard requiring some precaution.
