Overview

Under the direction of the facility supervisor, this position is responsible for performing various construction, maintenance, modifications, installations and repair functions to the facility and facility equipment. Support for HVAC mechanic.

Essential Job Functions

  • Performs routine duties with diversified knowledge in all aspects of maintenance, installation, construction and repairs.
  • Performs routine maintenance tasks that are moderately difficult including framing, sheet-rock, painting, plumbing, electrical and lighting, wall and floor covering as well as repairs to carpet, ceiling, wall, flooring and masonry.
  • Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
  • Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on machinery and the building or grounds as required. Supports maintenance of HVAC functions.
  • May be required to work on off shift and/or weekends.
  • Must be available for call in activity.

Basic Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and diagrams.
  • Job requires a high degree of reliability.
  • Must be able to work independently or on a team effectively.
  • Diversified knowledge in all aspects of maintenance, installation, construction, and repairs.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school education or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in facility maintenance or equivalent experience.
  • Electrical and/or HVAC experience preferred.

Physical Demands

Must be able to lift 50lbs, work on ladders and elevated platforms. Job requires ability to perform duties of this job while bending, stooping or kneeling as well as ability to do extensive standing, walking and climbing. A significant part of this job includes the moving of furniture, and equipment.

Work Environment

Must be willing and able to work in a variety of environments including outdoors, at elevated heights, in non-climate controlled conditions. Incumbent occasionally will be exposed to chemicals, i.e. paints, solvents, degreasers and aerosols.
