The Glens Falls Operation is known as Bard’s Technology Center and is Bard’s largest domestic manufacturing facility employing approximately 700 in a three shift operation. The Glens Falls Operation manufactures over 20 different product lines serving all Bard Divisions.

Summary of Position with General Responsibilities

This position reports to the plant HR Manager. The HR Business Partner is one of a five-member local HR team and will be personally responsible for an array of key generalist duties. The incumbent will primarily drive recruitment, employee relations and performance management efforts for designated departments.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Provide client-based HR support to production, department supervisors and HR Manager in key areas of employee relations, recruiting and performance management. This includes providing assistance to supervisors and employees to prevent and mediate conflicts, guide through the disciplinary process and terminations.   Investigate causes of disputes and recommend solutions and/or corrective actions. Bring issues to successful conclusion.
  2. Drive full-cycle hiring process for open positions in designated groups. Participate in interview process, orientations and exit interviews.
  3. Assists supervisors and employees with interpretations of policies.
  4. Review FMLA and Worker’s Comp cases in designated group. Work with internal partners providing HR guidance in these areas.
  5. Advises on merit and promotion recommendations interpreting internal and external compensation data.
  6. Participates in developing HR department goals, objectives, and systems.
  7. Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment and general human resource administration.
  8. Participates in employee events.
  9. Other related HR duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  1. Minimum of 5-years of previous HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
  2. Demonstrated depth of knowledge in employee relations and recruiting.
  3. Strong desire for and aptitude for professional growth.
  4. Analytical skills: ability to navigate numerical data, see trends, draw conclusions.
  5. Ability to see the big picture and execute at the detail level.
  6. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  7. Demonstrated ability to build rapport quickly, develop trust and sustain working relationships.
  8. HRIS or Applicant Tracking System familiarity.
  9. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word and Power Point.
  10. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  11. Strong time management and organizational skills.

Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge

PHR certification is highly desirable.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, HR or Business plus a minimum of five years of rounded Human Resources generalist experience. Depth of knowledge in employee relations and recruiting. 

Physical Demands

Occasionally requires light physical effort as in periods of prolonged standing, sitting at files or work tables or bending, stooping or reaching and/or occasional lifting of light items (i.e. up to 30 lbs).

Work Environment

May have some exposure to chemical material used in manufacturing process. Occasional exposure to potential for minor injury or other health hazard requiring some precaution.
