Summary of Position with General Responsibilities

The Work Leader I is responsible for overseeing a manufacturing production line, while ensuring quality, productivity, and budgetary constraints meet or exceed expectations. The Work Leader I will assist the manufacturing supervisor in developing the skills of the employees to maximize efficiency in the department(s).

Essential Job Functions

  • Assign tasks to operators involved in the manufacturing of Davol products
  • Verify and ensure all assigned personnel follow manufacturing procedures and Quality System requirements
  • Strive continuously to achieve and improve production efficiencies by reducing non-value added activities while ensuring quality requirements are met or exceeded
  • Make recommendations for manufacturing process improvements and cost savings
  • Act as a liaison between production personnel, management, and other departments to ensure production and quality remains a top priority
  • Effectively communicate any manufacturing and quality concerns to the supervisor
  • Coordinate with the supervisor regarding the skill development and training of production personnel
  • Perform production related calculations to ensure cycle count accuracy and production control
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the lean philosophy and plant goals
  • Train employees on new/revised procedures.
  • Provide Quality and Safety leadership to the operators
  • Assist in day-to-day packaging and manufacturing operations as needed
  • Work independently and handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously
  • The ability to work overtime
  •  Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required. Additional supplemental course work preferred
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in the medical field with production and leadership abilities is preferred
  • Basic math skills including conversion of units of measure normally obtained by a high school graduate or equivalent work experience
  • Must have strong communication skills and be fluent in the English language

  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook
  • Ability to multi-task effectively

Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge

  • Familiarity with using safety equipment, OSHA regulations and MSDS standards

Education and/or Experience

High School diploma or GED required. Additional supplemental course work preferred

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs occasionally
  • Must be able to wear a respirator if required.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, move, twist and bend to operate, move and clean equipment and clean room(s)

Work Environment

  • Clean Room or Manufacturing floor
