Overview:
We are looking for an Environmental Health & Safety Engineer for our Glens Falls New York Technology Center located at the foothills of the Adirondacks in close proximity to scenic Lake George, New York, historic Saratoga Springs and within a 50 mile radius of the state capital of Albany, New York.

Summary of Position with General Responsibilities:
Knowledgeable EHS resource to improve the Environmental Health and Safety of the organization. Lead ergonomic related engineering project responsibilities to completion.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Participate in and support the facility’s Environmental Health and Safety programs.
  • Design, develop, qualify, and validate manufacturing processes and tooling/equipment to drive Safety/ergonomic improvements.
  • Perform safety/ergonomic process improvement to include; generating technical drawings and associated documentation, author technical reports, and change requests, develop and perform validation studies.
  • Review new manufacturing processes to assess compliance with environmental and safety standards.
  • Perform PM equipment Safety reviews. Trouble-shoot unsafe processes and equipment with ability to develop corrective actions.
  • Perform or coordinate Industrial Hygiene monitoring based on standards.
  • Maintain current files of all applicable Federal, State and local regulations and standards concerning environmental protection, occupational safety and health.
  • Prepare annual, quarterly and monthly regulatory reports for OSHA, DEC, EPA, GF WWTP.
  • Review and sign Hazardous Waste manifests, shipping documents, and quarterly hazardous waste activity reports
  • Participate in the facility safety program including safety meetings, general awareness.
  • Works effectively in a team environment.
  • Assist EHS Coordinator to;
  • Develop, implement and oversee procedures and programs to ensure Federal and State compliance with OSHA, EPA, DEC.
  • Perform Environmental and Safety Training to meet all regulatory requirements.
  • Audit facilities periodically for compliance with Federal, State and local regulations, corporate policies and Divisional procedures; issue reports on status of compliance.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Basic Qualifications:
• Proven experience using independent judgment to perform job responsibilities, including taking a lead role in managing projects with effective results.

Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge:
  • Previous experience in an Environmental, Health and Safety discipline. 
  • Experience in a regulated environment.
  • Experience in lean manufacturing.


Education and/or Experience:
  • Four year degree in engineering/technical discipline.
  • Minimum of three years engineering or technical experience in a manufacturing environment

 



Physical Demands:
  • Occasionally requires light physical effort as in periods of prolonged standing, sitting at files or work tables or bending, stooping or reaching and/or occasional lifting of light items (i.e. up to 30 lbs). 
  •  May require some exposure to chemicals used in manufacturing processes. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk; sit; use hands or arms (to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls).  The employee is occasionally required to stand; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.  
  • The employee must be able to wear personal protective equipment required to perform this job safely.
  • The incumbent must demonstrate the ability to perform the essential function of the job as outlined in the duties and responsibilities.

Some physical inconvenience or discomfort occasionally present in the work situation, (moderate noise, disagreeable odors, etc.)
