Overview:
We are looking for a Network Specialist I for our Glens Falls New York Technology Center located at the foothills of the Adirondacks in close proximity to scenic Lake George, New York, historic Saratoga Springs and within a 50 mile radius of the state capital of Albany, New York.

Summary of Position with General Responsibilities:
Provide Hardware and Software support to all users of Division/Subsidiary multi-site PC based local area networks (LAN’s) and Telecommunication facilities. Work effectively in a team environment that integrates technical and user expertise, as well as divisional and corporate team goals

Essential Job Functions:

Network (MIS) Support

  • Provide network/telecommunication support.
  • Evaluate and test network software.
  • Provide technical assistance in operation and maintenance of back ups.
  • Provide maintenance for user installations, software debugging/recovery, and hardware repair.

 

Desktop P.C. Support

  • Train employees on LAN and PC operations.
  • Maintain inventory of all hardware.
  • Coordinate outside repair and maintenance activities.
  • Onsite hardware/software support.

 

Miscellaneous

  • Offsite support as required.
  • Assist Accounting department as necessary.
  • Flexible hours as required.


Basic Qualifications:
Strong Communication and Technical writing skills.

Education and/or Experience:

A.S. degree in any of the following disciplines, Electronic Technician, Computer Science, Engineering related field, or equivalent experience.

1 year minimum experience in installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining network related communication equipment, PC's and periperal equipment on a network.  Must have familiarity with state-of-the-art PC Hardware, PC Software, and both windows desktop and server operating systems.  Must have strong LAN switch configeration skills.



Physical Demands:

Occasionally requires light physical effort as in periods of prolonged standing, sitting at files or work tables or bending, stooping or reaching and/or occasional lifting of light items (i.e. up to 30 lbs



Work Environment:

Physical surroundings are pleasant and comfortable, with little or no exposure to injury or other health hazards
